CHURCH GIVING
Because many of us are British, it is hard to talk about money so we don’t do it. Yet the Bible doesn’t seem to have such qualms about it!
At Emmanuel we believe that giving financially and of our time and skills is part of our worship to God and what it means to be a family on mission. This year we long to run an Alpha course where we can invite people to find out about Jesus, to hire a children’s director, and to strategically rethink the way we do church and provide for our entire community.
It is going to take resources to do this. We want you to prayerfully consider your giving through tithes and offerings for the coming season and join with us in this area.
Often the best way to do this is by setting up a regular standing order and then you don’t have to worry about remembering. The details can be found here …..

EMMANUEL FUNDRAISING EVENTS
Fun Walk
Thank you to all those who took part. Please return your sponsor forms to Alan Woolnough with any outstanding payments by Sunday 12 October. Cheques payable to Emmanuel Church PCC Billericay. The full amount raised, including contributions from the bonus pot, will be known by mid-November.
Coast to Coast Walk
Jonathan and Christine Morley were pleased to dedicate their Coast to Coast Walk (from St Bees on the Irish Sea coast in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay on the North Sea coast in North Yorkshire) to generate funds for Emmanuel, and many have signed up to donate. Very sadly, and a great shock to all, Jonathan collapsed and died on the very last day of the walk. Christine decided to complete the 190 miles in honour of Jonathan, and would like those who pledged, and anyone else wishing to contribute, to do so to the Billericay Emmanuel PCC account detailed above. Many thanks.
KIDS’ CHURCH
Meets during the 10.30 service. The children start off in church with everyone else and leave after our initial sung worship to enjoy learning more about Jesus in the church hall. When we have communion, the children come back to their parents for that, and on the other weeks parents will go to collect their kids at the end of the service.
Kids are not the future of the church, they are the church now and we need to love and treat them as such. We want to make church a brilliant place for the youngest to the oldest, and at the moment we have a big gap in how we care for those who are under 18. Part of improving the consistency of our provision means increasing the number of volunteers helping. This includes assisting the kids’ leaders, helping out with activities and just being a warm and friendly presence. All the relevant training and help will be given. Please connect with one of the church leaders or email the office at emmanueloffice@billericaychurches.org
ALPHA COURSE
We started running a weekly Alpha course in September. Alpha is an introduction to Christianity and a place to ask all the questions and explore all the issues people have ever wanted to ask about life, faith and purpose. It’s not too late to sign up or bring someone along. We have a great team hosting our guests, but we have room for more. Please continue praying – people finding Jesus is a spiritual battleground; we need to cover this in as much prayer as we can get our hands on.
